When I was in Bible college at Prairie Bible Institute, Three Hills, Alberta, Canada, we were told to memorize Proverbs eight. In that passage of Scripture, God calls the sons of men: black, white, Jew, Gentile, all nationalities to come to Him and understand “Wisdom.” In verses , it says this: “For wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare.   Wisdom is a priority, and we are told to seek it above all else (Proverbs ; ). Proverbs is known as the wisdom book, and the entire second chapter gives a detailed explanation of the value of gaining wisdom. Until our hearts are in a right relationship with God, we are unable to have the “wisdom that comes from heaven” (James ).

The term "Sapiential Books" or "Books of Wisdom" is used in biblical studies to refer to a subset of the books of the Hebrew Bible in the Septuagint translation. There are seven of these books, namely the books of Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, the Song of Songs (Song of Solomon), the Book of Wisdom and Sirach (Ecclesiasticus). Not all the Psalms are usually regarded as belonging to the.   Six books in the Christian Bible are known as books of poetry: Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs, and Lamentations. These books are almost entirely made up of poems, songs, and wise sayings that the ancient Jews (and the Christians who followed) used to make wise decisions and worship God.

The Book of Wisdom, or the Wisdom of Solomon, is a Jewish work written in Greek and most likely composed in Alexandria, lly dated to the mid first century BC, the central theme of the work is "Wisdom" itself, appearing under two principal aspects.

In its relation to man, Wisdom is the perfection of knowledge of the righteous as a gift from God showing itself in action. (17) But the wisdom that is from aboveWhereas, in sweetest contrast to all this repulsive foulness and riot, the true wisdom from above is first pure, chaste as the Lamb of God, "the Word made flesh" (), then peaceful, gentle, and compliant--easy to be won, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial, not double-minded (non duplex), nor hypocritical.

The first shows how the universal history described in the first eleven chapters of Genesis, from creation to the tower of Babel, conveys, in the words of Leon Kass, "a coherent anthropology" -- a general teaching about human nature 3/5(5).

No, wisdom is not simply knowing things—it is knowing things and acting accordingly. It is having both the knowledge to develop principles and the judgment to act in accordance with those principles. Wisdom can be found in all kinds of ways, including in these eight books of wisdom from some mighty smart folks.

Verse 7-ch. - Part II. INTRODUCTORY SECTION. The first main section of the book begins here and ends at Proverbs It consists of a series of fifteen admonitory discourses addressed to youth by the Teacher and Wisdom personified, with the view to exhibit the excellence of wisdom, and generally to illustrate the motto, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge," or wisdom.

Beginning of Wisdom: Wow what can I say. I can not wait for the 4th book to come out and see how everything continues to play out. I was hooked from the very first chapter of this book. Excited to see what was going to happen with all of the characters/5.

For the Bible, in contrast, the beginning of wisdom comes not from wonder but from awe and reverence, and the goal is not understanding for its own sake but rather a righteous and holy life.
